Brand new Vets for Pets opens in Didcot inside Pets at Home

Family run veterinary team expand their experience and trusted care to Didcot

Exciting news for Didcot’s pet loving community. Husband and wife Veterinary Surgeons, Dan and Lucy Preece are proud to announce the opening of their third Vets for Pets practice, located inside Pets at Home in Didcot.

Already known for their expert care in established practices, Vets for Pets Abingdon and Oxford Botley, Dan and Lucy are set to continue this trend in Didcot. Together, they own and run all three practices, with the help of their two young sons, who support them with important jobs, such as keeping the animals company.

With a decade of practice ownership under their belt, Dan and Lucy have built an established team of 25 local specialists, who collectively have over 100 years of veterinary experience. This team will practice across the three sites, continuing to bring the highest level of care to local pet owners.

The grand opening took place on Friday 15th August, where an official ribbon cutting ceremony has taken place along with practice tours led by Dan and Lucy, as well as free activities, including goodie bags, ‘pup’ cakes, cupcakes and face painting 15th August and 16th August.

Dr Dan Preece, Practice Owner and Veterinary Surgeon, commented:

“Opening our third practice is a proud milestone in our journey. From the very beginning, we've been committed to delivering personalised, compassionate care to our clients and their pets. Expanding into a new location allows us to bring that same trusted approach to even more families in the community. We’re excited to continue growing and looking after all the patients that come through our doors, no matter how furry or feathery they may be.”

Vets for Pets practices are locally owned and led by individual, entrepreneurial veterinary experts who choose to partner with a national brand to start their own, individual businesses based on the needs of their local community.

Vets for Pets Didcot features four consultation rooms and a fully equipped in-house theatre. Services include keyhole surgery, airway surgery, dentistry, ultrasound and X-ray, as well as a full laboratory and separate dog and cat wards to ensure all patients receive the best care in the calmest environment.

Dan and Lucy’s dedication to animal welfare is at the heart of everything they do. With one of their most memorable cases being Lottie, the Cocker Spaniel. After being found abandoned, malnourished and heavily pregnant, the pair helped her make a full recovery, and she is now a cherished member of their family.

The Vets for Pets Abingdon, Oxford Botley, and now Didcot team have truly seen it all, from routine flea treatments to a dog who swallowed six rubber ducks without anyone noticing, only getting rumbled when the X-ray showed what was causing their upset stomach.

This new practice is a valuable addition to the Nation’s Local Vet, Vets for Pets’ growing network of independently owned practices. Dan and Lucy will continue to lead with complete clinical and operational autonomy, supported by one of the nation’s most trusted pet care brands.
